Every parent has a “we need to leave NOW” moment with their kids. But Crohn’s parents? We have them for different reasons.

Let me paint you a picture: We’re at the park. The kids are playing, having the time of their lives. And then—it happens. That unmistakable, oh-no-it’s-happening feeling in my gut. I scan for a bathroom. Nothing. The closest option? Home.

Cue: The Emergency Bathroom Dash.

“Kids, we have to go. NOW.”

“But we just got here!”

“I know, but Mommy’s tummy—”

They know. They don’t argue (anymore). They hop in the car, and we break speed limits (just kidding, Officer!). The whole way home, I’m praying we make it.

We pull in. I barely get out of the car. And let’s just say… sometimes, we make it. Sometimes, we don’t.

My kids have learned patience. They’ve learned that sometimes, plans change in an instant. And they’ve learned that when Mom says, “We have to leave NOW,” it’s not up for debate.

Stay Strong!
