Let’s talk about the real struggles of Crohn’s—bathroom emergencies. Because if I don’t laugh about it, I’ll cry.

I’ve had my fair share of close calls. I’ve mapped out the restrooms in every store I frequent. I’ve pulled off the road mid-drive, sprinting for a gas station like my life depended on it. And yes, I’ve had accidents. It’s humiliating. It’s devastating. But it’s also part of this disease, and I refuse to let shame win.

I’ve learned to keep an extra set of clothes in my car. I’ve learned that public restrooms are a gift (even the sketchy ones). And I’ve learned that the people who love me don’t judge me for something I can’t control.

So, to anyone who has ever had to fake a smile while secretly panicking about making it to the bathroom—I see you. You’re not alone. And if we ever run into each other in a public restroom, just know—I totally understand.

Stay Strong!
