Every time I leave the house, I go through the checklist:
✔ Bathroom locations mapped out – Because I can’t afford surprises.
✔ Emergency bag packed – Meds, wipes, extra clothes—just in case.
✔ Exit strategy planned – Because Crohn’s doesn’t wait until I’m ready.
And yet, even with all the planning, the anxiety lingers:
💭 What if there’s no bathroom nearby?
💭 What if I get sick in public?
💭 What if I can’t make it home in time?
Crohn’s takes away the luxury of spontaneity. I don’t just “go out”—I strategize. I calculate risks. I hope for the best while preparing for the worst.
And sometimes? I just stay home—because the stress of the unknown is too much.
If you struggle with the anxiety of going out, know this: You are not alone. And whatever choice you make—whether you go or stay—you are doing what’s best for you.
Stay Strong.
