Crohn’s doesn’t just affect me—it affects my relationships.
Friendships change when you have to cancel plans last minute. Dating is tricky when you have to explain why you can’t just “eat whatever.” And marriage? It takes patience, understanding, and a partner who doesn’t flinch when you say, “Can you grab me another roll of toilet paper?”
I’ve lost people along the way—those who didn’t understand, who got frustrated with my unpredictability. But I’ve also gained deeper, more meaningful relationships. The ones who stick around, who check in, who don’t make me feel like a burden.
If you’re struggling with relationships and Crohn’s, here’s my advice: Be honest. The right people will understand. And the ones who don’t? Let them go. You deserve people who love you exactly as you are.
Stay Strong!
