Leaving the house with kids means packing snacks, toys, extra clothes, and the entire contents of your home. Leaving the house with Crohn’s? That’s a whole different checklist.

Here’s what’s in my Crohn’s Mom Survival Kit:
Snacks for the kids (because hungry kids = cranky kids)
Safe snacks for me (because I don’t trust most food out in the wild)
Medications (because I refuse to get caught without them)
An extra set of clothes (for both me and the kids, just in case)
Bathroom supplies (wipes, toilet seat covers, a mental map of every restroom within a five-mile radius)
A distraction for the kids (so I can actually use the bathroom in peace)

Some parents pack for messes. I pack for potential digestive disasters. But you know what? It works. And when you live with Crohn’s, you do what you gotta do.

Stay Strong!
