Before I became a mom, Crohn’s flares were hard. Now that I have three little ones under eight? They feel impossible.

But here’s the thing—kids don’t pause because I’m in pain. They still need breakfast, help with homework, and someone to break up fights over whose turn it is to hold the remote.

So, how do I handle it?

💜 I simplify everything.
Frozen meals, paper plates, and TV time do not make me a bad mom. On flare days, my only goal is to get through the day with everyone fed, safe, and loved.

💜 I’m honest with my kids.
They know that when Mommy says she needs a “rest day,” it’s not because I don’t want to play—it’s because my body needs a break. And you know what? They get it.

💜 I ask for help (even when it’s hard).
Whether it’s my kids helping pick up their toys, a family member bringing dinner, or letting my kids watch one more episode so I can rest—it’s okay to lean on others.

Parenting with Crohn’s is tough. But my kids won’t remember the days I rested. They’ll remember that I was there. And that’s all that matters.

Stay Strong!
