Meal prepping with Crohn’s is a delicate dance between convenience and avoiding a gut rebellion.

I used to think meal prepping meant cooking elaborate dishes for the week. But with three kids, limited energy, and a very picky stomach, I’ve had to simplify.

Here’s what works for me:

Stick to safe foods. I batch-cook rice, grilled chicken, and roasted zucchini because I know they won’t hurt me. No surprises = fewer flares.

Make freezer-friendly meals. When I’m feeling good, I prep and freeze things like homemade chicken soup and soft turkey meatballs. On flare days? I just reheat and survive.

Snack prep = lifesaver. Sliced bananas, applesauce pouches, and plain crackers? Always stocked. Because when I need food now, I don’t want to guess what’s safe.

Accept the shortcuts. Pre-cut veggies, rotisserie chicken, and pre-cooked rice aren’t “cheating”—they’re survival tools.

Crohn’s makes food a challenge, but meal prepping doesn’t have to be overwhelming. A little planning goes a long way!

Stay Strong!
