OK, so you read the technical stuff for those of you who needed it and here is my version:

Myers’ Cocktail ( intravenous nutrient therapy ) is a form of intravenous nutrient therapy that involves injecting a “cocktail” of nutrients, containing magnesium, calcium, B12, B6, B complex, and vitamin C, directly into the bloodstream to improve energy capacity and cell function. When energy levels are high and cells can function at their best, patients are more likely to recover from acute and chronic conditions such as fatigue, depression, asthma and more.

The Myers’ Cocktail was originally developed by Dr. John Myers, a Maryland physician, many moons ago who used intravenous injections of several different nutrients to treat a wide range of conditions. More recently, the Myers’ Cocktail has been popularized by Dr. Alan Gaby, President of the American Holistic Medical Association.

The idea behind the Myers’ Cocktail is that many common conditions are caused by bloating, maldigestion and other abnormalities or deficiencies within the digestive process that prevent patients from fully absorbing the nutrients in their food. By injecting these nutrients directly into the bloodstream, they are delivered to your cells without interference from the digestive system. This form of treatment is especially ideal for patients with digestive problems, including bloating, irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn’s disease. Similarly, many conditions cause the body to use up nutrients at a much faster rate for healing, which can be aided by injecting extra nutrients into the body.

Sometimes your doctor may do a “modified” cocktail which would probably include something like this:  magnesium, calcium, B12, B6, Bs, B complex and vitamin C. This combination is designed to help patients receive the proper amount of nutrients that they may need in order to treat their individual condition. This combination of nutrients is usually more effective than taking just one nutritional supplement like many other doctors recommend, such as vitamin C to treat the common cold.

Myers’ cocktail is administered with an iv when nutrients are given intravenously, your digestive system is bypassed and a much higher level of nutrition is directly delivered to your cells throughout the bloodstream.
In addition to treating these and other conditions, the Myers’ Cocktail is also effective in providing a natural energy boost and relieving symptoms of fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and chronic depression. This energy boost can last for several days or weeks and can significantly improve a patient’s quality of life. Myers’ Cocktail can help strengthen the immune system as well, allowing patients who constantly get sick to effectively fight off viral illnesses.

My doctor, Dr. Caroline Matzinger of Las Vegas, specializes in this type of treatment and is very good and quick.  The whole procedure only takes about 5 minutes in her office.  My IV is done by syringe not by bag therapy.  It doesn’t hurt, burn or sting. The only side effect is you get hot and in your lower region if you know what I mean.  Ain’t saying it’s a bad thing either!  :o)
